Bacolod council OKs removal of traffic island
The Bacolod City Council passed a resolution calling on the City Engineer’s Office to consider the removal of traffic islands along Narra Avenue, Narra Extension, and Tindalo Avenue in Bacolod City’s Shopping area.
City Councilor Dindo Ramos, author of the resolution, said the removal of the “outdated” structures would “maximize road use” and “ease traffic congestion.”
Traditional and creative solutions have been instituted to improve the overall traffic conditions in this city, added Ramos. (https://watchmendailyjournal.com/2019/10/18/resolution-seeking-bacolod-city-traffic-island-removal-passes/)
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, for his part, said he plans to consult the Department of Environment and Natural Resources on the matter.
The city, he added, must find a site for replanting once the structures are removed.
