Bacolod cops told to strictly enforce riding-in-tandem ordinance
Councilor Dindo Ramos urged the police to intensify its implementation of the ordinance regulating “riding in tandem” in Bacolod City.
Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Transportation, pushed for the strict enforcement of the ordinance so that its impact be felt.
City Ordinance 832 series of 2017 prohibits motorcycle-riding pairs on any day from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Bacolod.
Ramos, the proponent of the ordinance, stressed that the measure aims to reduce crime in the city during nighttime.
Those confronted with emergency situations and those who need to travel at night because of their occupation are exempted from riding-in-tandem regulation
They should, however, present a valid ID to the authorities.
Any driver found violating the ordinance will be fined P300 and/or imprisonment for three days. The back-rider, on one hand, will pay a P200 fine and/or will receive a jail term of two days.
