Antique under state of calamity amid dengue case surge

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Antique declared the province in a state of emergency after dengue cases increased in all 18 towns.

SP Member Pio Jessielito Sumade Jr. fiped the resolution.

The declaration authorizes Governor Rhodora Cadiao to use the Quick Response Fund of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund for dengue prevention and response programs. (

Antique continues to see a sharp increase in dengue cases, with 2,011 infections, latest data showed.

Provincial Health Officer Irene Duldoco said the province also recorded 112 dengue cases just this week.

Eight persons have also died from the mosquito-borne disease, according to Dulduco.

The province, she added, is implementing programs to lessen dengue cases such as the 4 o’clock habit, spraying activities in towns and hospitals, and buying dengue duo kits for diagnosis, and intravenous fluids for treatment.
