Antique town to implement stricter waste management

The local government unit of San Jose in Antique province is poised to strengthen its solid waste management (SWM) program this year.

It will strictly implement a “No Segregation, No Collection” policy.

Mayor Elmer Untaran said his government has been addressing the traffic problem, economic development and the medical needs of the town since last year.

This year, SWM will be a policy priority, added Untaran.

“The missing link now is the SWM, which I want to focus on for the year,” according to him.

Untaran said a non-governmental organization will help the local government unit on responsible garbage collection.

“Our municipal dumpsite is now almost full so I gave instruction to the waste collectors that no segregation, no collection,” he added.

Residents were strongly advised on garbage separation.
