Antique prov’l gov’t to build Olympic-size swimming pool

The government-owned University of Antique (UA) will soon have its own Olympic-size swimming pool.

The provincial government of Antique is allocating a budget of P25 million to construct the pool.

UA president Pablo Crespo Jr. said they are grateful for the support as it had been their long-time dream to have a swimming pool inside the UA main campus in Sibalom town.

“Our students without the swimming pool still have to go to the Binirayan swimming pool in this capital town for their swimming classes,” Crespo added.

“With the UA swimming pool, the students could have their swimming lessons even during weekdays now.”

Students who are training for competitions may also use the swimming pool, he said.

Crespo said the facility will be most useful to students taking up Bachelor of Science (BS) in Maritime Engineering and BS in Marine Transportation.

“We have already submitted the program of work to the provincial engineering office for implementation,” said Crespo.
