Antique mayor urges public to stop spreading false info on coronavirus


Authorities in San Jose, Antique urged residents to stop spreading malicious reports relating to the town’s second confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) as it causes public alarm.

Mayor Elmer Untaran said the Department of Health is the one authorized to announce updates on Covid-19 cases based on the swab test results.

“We are not in the position to announce prior or until there is official a statement from where they had swab test,” added Untaran. (

San Jose’s second confirmed case is a 45-year-old male who got stranded in Taguig City, Metro Manila. He exhibited mild symptoms after arriving here on July 28.

The mayor said the patient was immediately taken to an isolation facility in this capital town.

His specimen was collected last July 31 and the result came out on August 4.
