Aklan SP probe on pricey meat on Feb. 2
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Aklan is set to investigate the rising prices of meat products in the province.
“The attention of this representation was called by the media sector on the alleged sudden increase in the prices of meat, particularly chicken and pork, in Aklan,” said SP member Nemesio Neron.
Neron lamented that unreasonable increases in prices would hurt consumers. (https://bit.ly/39q62Vt)
The legislative inquiry, which will be jointly conducted by the Committees on Agriculture and Aquatic Resources and Trade, Industry and Commerce, is on February 2.
Meat prices surge as African swine fever decimates hog populations across Luzon, while chicken supplies dropped due to numerous poultry farms going bankrupt last year.
