Aklan gov Miraflores to mayors: Prepare cemeteries for Covid-19 deaths
Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores ordered all municipal mayors of the province to prepare burial grounds for deceased Covid-19 patients after a crematorium in Iloilo City stopped accepting bodies for cremation.
In a letter dated August 2, 2021, Miraflores said Gegato Abecia Funeral Parlor and Crematorium has suspended its operations due to “huge volume of cadaver they receive daily.”

Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr., chief of the Aklan Provincial Health Office, assured the guidelines stipulated under Presidential Decree No. 856 (Code on Sanitation of the Philippines) in burying Covid-19 fatalities will be strictly followed.
Bodies of patients who died of the viral disease should be buried within 12 hours after death.
Aklan is currently under modified enhanced community quarantine until August 15 in response to rising numbers of infections.
