After 2-year hiatus, Aklanons celebrate founding anniversary
Governor Florencio Miraflores on Monday led the activities in celebrating the 66th founding anniversary of the Province of Aklan.
The province called off the celebrations in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On April 25, 1956, then-President Ramon Magsaysay signed Republic Act 1414 declaring “Aklan Day” as a special non-working holiday.
Meanwhile, the Aklan Pina and Fiber Festival and Talibong Festival 2022 kicked off on April 22 until today, April 26 at Provincial Trade Hall.
Last Friday, a painting exhibit with the theme “Pagbalikid sa Kasaysayan ag Kultura it Akean” opened at Paseo de Akean in Kalibo.
The Aklan Bonsai Association will also hold its bonsai exhibit with basic and advanced bonsai demo workshops at Provincial Capitol Complex.
Other public activities are Pinta Grasya 10 art exhibition of Aklanon Visual Artists of Lakbay Kulay Chapter and Kurit Kudlit Group, a garden show of Aklan Horticulture Society, Aklan Baligyaan sa Kapitolyo, Tsibugan sa Kapitolyo, and the recognition of 2021 Most Outstanding Taxpayers and Municipal Treasurers’ Office.
