Congressmen seeking to use Charter change to scrap the 2019 elections and extend their terms are not just thick-faced. They are doubly thick-faced.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson said this Sunday after House Deputy Speaker Fredenil Castro criticized him for calling the term extension-seeking solons callous.

Dapat pala ang sinabi ko, dobleng kapal ang mukha,” Lacson said in a tweet.

Lacson earlier scored congressmen who want to amend the 1987 Constitution but only so they can do away with the 2019 elections and stay beyond their three-year terms.

Castro, in a text message to House reporters, claimed Lacson’s statement was “unparliamentary” and supposedly “unprofessional” and “uneducated.”

Lacson earlier branded as anomalous any attempt by lawmakers to introduce an amendment to the Constitution where they would benefit.

At the Kapihan sa Senado forum last Thursday, he said any amendment that could benefit incumbent lawmakers should not take effect immediately.
