2K Cebu farmers get P8M products, machineries
Some 2,000 farmers in Cebu received some P8 million in farm products and machineries at a recent congress for farmers and scientists there.
The Cebu provincial government said the items distributed at the congress held in Barangay Mabolo in Cebu City last Nov. 28 included fertilizers and seeds.
Also, the farmer beneficiaries learned how to be prepared for disasters and resilient, thanks to lectures from resource speakers.
Governor Hilario Davide III and Provincial Agriculturist Roldan Saragena led the distribution of 150 knapsack sprayers, 10 multi-function cultivator tillers, five hand tractors, 21 mechanical corn shellers, six moisture meters and six weighing scales to the farmers.
Saragena added that corn seeds, vegetable seeds, organic and inorganic fertilizers, camote cuttings and other materials were also given to the farmers (Distribution of P8-M farm products, machineries highlights 11th farmer-scientists confab).
The Farmer-Scientists Training Program is a banner program of the Provincial Agriculture Office.
The 11th Farmer-Scientists Congress started with a thanksgiving Mass and the ribbon-cutting for the opening and viewing of exhibits of farm products and machineries.
Officials led by Governor Davide and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale attended the event.
Meanwhile, Capitol officials awarded eight outstanding municipal and city agriculture offices, 10 outstanding FSTP technicians, 10 outstanding farmer-scientists and nine outstanding farmer-scientists’ associations with plaques and certificates of recognition.
