24/7 Cebu City library expects more visitors in 2019
The Cebu City Public Library (CCPL), the country’s only 24/7 public library, expects to see an increase in its visitor volume this year.
In 2018, the library recorded a total of 103,528, a big leap from 2017’s visitors of only 26,820.
Cebu Daily News reported that the CCPL will offer services to the hearing-impaired sector and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual community this year.
It will also implement a modern automated service.
“In 2019, we will have a state-of-the-art library with the implementation of a modern and automated service with radio-frequency identification system,” according to CCPL chief Librarian Rosario Chua.
“It will be a new library that would continue to nurture the dreams and hopes of our young people,” Chua said.
In March last year, CCPL became a 24/7 public library upon the directive of Mayor Tommy Osmeña to ensure a safe and affordable place for students to study.
