2 of ex-Iloilo mayor Salcedo’s co-accused cleared of graft
Two co-accused of former Sara, Iloilo mayor Neptali Salcedo have been acquitted of graft concerning the alleged overpriced construction of two farm-to-market roads in 2006.
The Sandiganbayan 4th Division has issued a decision which granted the demurrer to evidence of former town treasurer Edna Pacrim and treasurer Roel Salcedo of graft.
“[T]here exists no basis for adopting the audit team’s computation for overpricing or overspending on the said projects and for finding that damage was in fact incurred by the government,” read the anti-graft court’s decision.
The court previously also acquitted the former mayor of graft.
Records show that farm-to-market roads were constructed from Barangay Domingo to Barangay Muyco and another one from Sitio Kapinayan, at Barangay Domingo to Sitio Sincua at Barangay Lemery.
The first one cost at P200,000 by the Commission on Audit (COA) said it was only supposed to cost only P103,488.
While, the second road cost cost P100,000 but the COA said it should have only cost at P51,744.
