2 Iloilo mayors on drug list lost polls
Two mayors from Iloilo province President Rodrigo Duterte had labeled as narco-politicians lost the election.
In Calinog town, Alex Centena (9,880 votes) lost to Renata Casinao (15,877 votes) in the vice mayoral race.
Mariano Malones, who ran for vice mayor in Maasin town, was defeated by Itik Albacete by 818 votes.
His daughter, Sweet Malones (8,727 votes) also trailed behind incumbent Vice Mayor Francis Amboy (10,061 votes) in the race for mayor.
The defeat of Centena and Malones had nothing to do with their inclusion in Duterte’s drug list, observers said in a Panay News article.
They said voters might have experienced “longevity fatigue” since both candidates have been power for more than a decade already.
