2 historic events! Bacolod to celebrate Independence Day along with Charter Day
For Bacolod City, June 12 will be marked not just as Independence Day but also as the start of a weeklong celebration for its Charter Day.
Councilor Em Ang, co-chairman of the Charter Day celebration, said all systems are go for the five-day event that will culminate on June 19, Rizal Day.
This will be the first time the city government will celebrate Charter Day on June 18 instead of Oct. 19, after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed into law the bill moving the date of the occasion (https://thedailyguardian.net/negros/all-set-for-bacolod-charter-day-bash/).
Under the bill sponsored by Bacolod City Rep. Greg Gasataya, Bacolod City’s Charter Day celebration is moved from Oct. 19 to June 18.
Ang said this year’s celebration will be highlighted with a Trade Fair and the contest of best festivals in the barangays.
But she said there may not be enough time to accommodate all 61 barangays in the city for the competition.
On the other hand, barangays will also have located at the Bacolod Government Center grounds.
Ang said all activities for Charter Day will be held at the BCG grounds except on Independence Day, that will be held at the Bacolod City Public Plaza.
