Did Joe III pay supporters at COC filing?
Iloilo City Mayor Jose “Joe” Espinosa III has denied paying supporters who accompanied him during his filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) on October 11.
Espinosa and his slate attended a mass at San Jose Parish Church before heading to the Commission on Election office at the Iloilo Terminal Market.
Each participant was paid P150 to P350, a report by The Daily Guardian said.
“They all volunteered to join me in the COC filing,” the politiko claimed.
Espinosa, who is running for reelection, also dismissed reports that public funds were used in Thursday’s activity.
Joining the incumbent mayor yesterday were former councilor Perla Zulueta and Councilors R Leoni Gerochi, Eduardo “Ed” Peñaredondo, Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar, Lyndon Acap, Candice Tupas, Mandrei Malabor, and Roldel Fullon-Agado.
