Unacceptable! Military laments continued NPA attacks in Negros
The Armed Forces of the Philippines scored the New People’s Army for their continued violence in Negros Island Region amid the ongoing peace talks between the government and the reds.
The military said that it recorded five incidents of insurgency-related violence, such as encounters, ambush, and arson, among others, in the past two weeks.
Brigadier General Jon Aying of the Third Infantry Division said that the incidents were unacceptable and unnecessary, especially under the democratic principle of the country.
Among the incidents recorded were the encounter between military and around 30 rebels in Guihulngan City of Negros Oriental on June 30.
There was no casualty in the encounter but the army recovered several firearms in the clash site.
Prior to that, the NPA also burned an abandoned Army detachment at Barangay Libertad in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
The rebels also ambushed a sugar planter in Barangay Minapasok, Calatrava.
