Contrary to the regulator’s opinion, these ride-sharing services actually helped decongest roads.

Mayor Tomas “Tommy” Osmeña is thrilled to hear that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) finally found some sense and entered into a compromise with ride-sharing services Uber and Grab and reversed plans to clamp down on “colorum” cars plying Metro Manila and major cities nationwide.

Amid Cebu City’s worsening traffic situation, Osmeña lauded Uber and Grab for the service it provides, particularly its pool or shared ride option.

“One car servicing five people throughout the day causes much less traffic compared to five cars being driven by five people. Even better when that car doesn’t need to park,” Osmeña explained in backing the alternative modes of transport.
