Todo promote! DOT boosts Eastern Visayas as cruise destination
The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 8 will tap into new and existing markets to entice more local and foreign tourists to visit the region
Director Karen Tiopes said Eastern Visayas has become a “favorite destination for high-end expedition cruise ships.”
Cruise line guests are offered an array of shore excursions in Limasawa, Capul, Kalanggaman, and Quatro Islas, said Tiopes.
Other popular activities include island destinations in Leyte province, hopping tour in Biliran province, and diving and whale shark watching in Southern Leyte.
Tiopes said outdoor activities in Samar province, the rock formations and historical landmarks in Northern Samar, and the surf spots in Eastern Samar will also be attractive to tourists.
“Tour operators from Luzon and Metro Manila are now forging linkages with our own tour operators, accommodation facilities and tourist transport service providers to offer exciting tour programs in the region,” she said.
