Residents of towns in the southern part of Cebu benefited from millions of pesos in cash incentives by the provincial government.

The provincial government said the incentives included financial assistance to barangay chief executives in Oslob, Boljoon and Alcoy.

Governor Hilario Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale led the distribution of the cash incentives to barangay workers (http://www.cebu.gov.ph/news/capitol-hits-southern-trail-cash-incentives-distribution/).

Receiving P1.526 million were barangay health workers, tanods, members of Lupong Tagapamayapa, barangay nutrition scholars and day care workers in these towns.

Another P1.090 million in cash assistance were also given to nine hinterland barangays: five in Oslob, three in Boljoon, and barangay Nug-as in Alcoy.

Davide said the assistance will go to acquiring emergency vehicles that enhance mobility during emergency situations especially at night.

Barangays that already have such vehicles can use the cash assistance for other community purposes.

In Oslob town, the provincial government said Mayor Jun Tumulak distributed P500,000 to Barangay Mainit; P150,000 to Barangay Calumpang; P160,000 to Barangay Cansaloay; P30,000 to Barangay Lagunde; and P150,000 to Barangay Pungtod.

In Boljoon, Mayor Merlou Derama distributed P150,000 each to barangays Nangka, Lower Becerril and San Antonio.

In Alcoy, Mayor Michael Sistoso helped distribute the incentives and assistance to barangay workers and barangay leaders.
