Talisay police chief fires 38 cops for taking bribes from drug, gambling lords
Thirty-eight officers of the Talisay City Police Station were relieved Monday following reports of their alleged involvement in various illegal activities.
Cebu Provincial Police Community Relations Office head, Superintendent Virgilio Bayon-on, said that Talisay Police chief, Supt. Jason Villamater, recommended the relief of these officers, who have been allegedly receiving “goodwill” money from suspected illegal drugs and gambling personalities.
Some of the rogue policemen will be reassigned to different police stations in other areas of Cebu Province, while others will be detailed at the Personnel Holding Accounting Unit pending investigation.
The Internal Affairs Service is currently conducting the investigation on these erring law enforcers, Bayon-on said.
Bayon-on said his team was serious in enforcing an internal cleansing program of the Police Regional Office- 7 toweed out scalawags, especially those involved in illegal drug activities.
