Tacloban City to install CCTVs to boost anti-criminality campaign

The Tacloban City government will install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in strategic locations around the city to boost its anti-criminality drive.

The plan was announced by City Administrator Atty. Irene Chiu recently during a press briedfing held to coincide with the Local Government Code Month Celebration.

Chiu said that the CCTV Cameras are targeted to be installed this year and it will be equipped with facial detection software that will be helpful in tracking criminals.

Meanwhile, a command and control center will also be set up at the City Hall to maintain the operation of the Smart Cameras which will be connected through fiber optic technology.

Chiu also revealed several programs of the city to be rolled out targeted at enhancing the delivery of front-line services of the City Government, such as the Electronic Payment Portal (EPP) – an online payment system for taxpayers and business operators that will be launched within the year.

Chiu represented Tacloban City Mayor Cristina Romualdez during the press briefieng.
