Tacloban City to hold anti-drug summit on Sept. 21

The Tacloban City will hold an anti-drug summit on September 21 as part of its contribution to the national administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez will spearhead the event dubbed as” New Beginnings for Change Summit,” which will gather all sectors in the City, which include the business sector and civil society organizations, city barangays and different schools.

Several activities have been lined up for the half-day event with theme, “ Sama-sama tungo sa pagbabago , kontra illegal na droga, korupsiyon, kriminalidad at terorismo; ” such as poster and jingle making competition for elementary and high School Students.

A film-making Competition will also be held for college students; pre-screening of entries will be done by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

A recognition activity for the drug-cleared barangays is also set to be held on that day; while those who completed of the City Drug Rehabilitation Program –New Beginning will also be given recognition.

The event is in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, DepEd and CHED, among other stakeholders.
