Siquijor town mayor ordered suspended over altercation with brother
The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the suspension of Larena, Siquijor Mayor Dean Villa after he was found guilty of simple misconduct over an altercation with his brother Ronnie Villa in March 2016.
In a resolution, the Ombudsman said that Dean confronted his brother regarding his conviction for misconduct in a case lodged before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Ronnie claimed that the mayor attempted to assault him and that the mayor ordered the police to arrest him.
“By using his authority and office for his personal advantage over the complainant, respondent clearly transgressed the norms and standards expected of him as a public servant. Indeed his act constitutes simple misconduct for which he should be held liable,” the Ombudsman resolution read.
