Rogelio Espina eyes P1B for Biliran’s flood control projects
Biliran Representative Rogelio Espina said the provincial government is eyeing a P1-billion fund for the province’s flood control projects.
The Biliran politiko explained that there is a need to mitigate extreme flooding in the province, citing the devastation wrought by Typhoon Urduja last year.
Typhoon Urduja displace around 90,000 due to landslides and floods.
Espina said the P1-billion budget will be used to fund the improvement of flood control infrastructures as well as river re-channelling.
“Without these projects, there’s always a threat of damages to infrastructure and properties in future typhoons and flooding,” he said.
