‘Parade of Lights’ coming back in Dinagyang 2019
Good news for revelers taking part in the 2019 Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City: the colorful “Parade of Lights” will be back.
Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. president Ramon Cua Locsin said the “Parade of Lights” was “very successful” when it was held for the first time last year.
“We were surprised last year because there were a lot of spectators. And we have talked with Mayor Jose Espinosa III and he also wants to bring back the event,” he said of the parade, one of the highlights of the 50th Dinagyang Festival (https://thedailyguardian.net/local-news/parade-of-lights-back-in-2019-dinagyang/).
For now, Locsin said offices and businesses they have contacted have showed interest to join the parade.
The Parade of Lights involves decorated floats with traditional themes in accord with the Dinagyang theme.
Participants include corporate sponsors of the festival, participating schools, and civic organizations.
Last September, the IDFI organized the first Iloilo Dinagyang Rhythm and Vibes Conference with industry experts and stakeholders.
Locsin said Dinagyang has its own music, which is even used by other festivals when they join in Aliwan Festival.
