It’s not Gisela: Woman’s body found floating in waters off Cebu
A decomposing body found in the waters off Cebu was not the slain Bien Unido, Bohol mayor Gisela Bendong Boniel, police said.
Escalante City, Negros Occidental Police Chief Inspector Rollie Poldevilla said that the body found on Saturday afternoon by a fisherman was not those of Boniel, whose body has yet to be found.
Poldevilla said that the body was identified as Laureta Cabag from Calatrava, Negros Occidental. The body was positively identified by Cabag’s family.
Boniel was allegedly killed by her husband, Bohol provincial Board Member Niño Rey, and her body was believed to be dumped in the waters between Cebu and Bohol in June 7.
Niño Rey is facing parricide charge before a Cebu regional trail court.
He was also charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention for allegedly abducting Gisela’s best friend, Angela Leyson and her son.
Niño Rey entered not guilty plea in the kidnapping and serious illegal detention raps.
