Mayor Reluya appears before Cebu Provincial Board, explains suspension of P12.4B port project
San Fernando Mayor Lakambini Reluya on June 11 appeared before the Cebu Provincial Board to explain why she suspended the P12.4-billion port project in her municipality.
The Cebu politiko said she decided to suspend the project because of violations by First Sangat SF International Port Corporation.
Reluya said First Sangat committed several violations like inconsistency of records, deliberate disregard of laws, rules, and procedures; continued defiance of the orders, and protest among the fisherfolk.
She also said it was Sangat Bay Development Corp. that was authorized to implement the project but it was First Sangat that was doing the construction works.
First Sangat President Ruben Feliciano, also the head of Sangat Bay, was present during the hearing.
Feliciano said Reluya’s accusations were all lies.
