Mabilog to seek TRO vs dismissal:Unfair, absurd
The camp of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog intends to seek a temporary restraining order from the Court of Appeals (CA) to stop his dismissal.
Mabilog’s legal counsel, lawyer Joenar Pueblo, disclosed he would file for certiorari and TRO before the CA following the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman to dismiss the mayor.
“It is unfair and absurd,” said Pueblo about the dismissal order which the Ombudsman based on Mabilog’s statement of assets, liabilities and networth (SALN).
“What is the substantial basis to say it defies financial logic?” pointed out by the lawyer.
The Ombudsman ordered Mabilog’s dismissal after finding him guilty of serious dishonesty.
The case stemmed from the complaint filed by Iloilo provincial administrator Manuel Mejorada who said Mabilog had an P8,938,082.52 net worth increase within a span of one year based on his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN) in 2012 and 2013..
However, Pueblo explained documents have already been submitted to the Ombudsman to show Mabilog and his wife Marivic acquired a loan from Bank of Canada.
Mabilog was already identified by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the narcopoliticians in the country.
