Iloilo schools to train next-gen politikos
At least five schools in Iloilo are partnering with the Department of Interior and Local Government to conduct mandatory training for Sangguniang Kabataan members.
The one-day mandatory training will be held between May 17 and 26, as provided for by the SK Reform Act.
DILG Iloilo Provincial Director Teodora Sumagaysay identified the five partner learning institutions as (https://thedailyguardian.net/local-news/dilg-partners-with-5-schools-for-mandatory-sk-training/):
– University of San Agustin
– Central Philippine University
– University of the Philippines-Visayas
– West Visayas State University
– Iloilo Science and Technology University
Sumagaysay said UPV will handle the mandatory training for SK officials from the first district of the province, while CPU will handle the second district.
WVSU will handle the third district; ISAT-U the fourth district and USA the fifth district.
The SK Provincial Management Team has representatives from the DILG, learning resource institutions, Provincial Local Youth Development Office, League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo Chapter and the National Youth Commission.
The mandatory training has three modules:
– Decentralization, Local Governance, SK History and its Salient Features
-Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting
-Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Official and Employees.
Sumagaysay said SK officials are required to undergo the training program prior to their assumption of office.
Failure to participate in the training without valid reason shall be a ground to disqualify SK officials or subject them to disciplinary actions.
