Iloilo mayor attends World Cities Summit
Iloilo City became part of the ongoing World Cities Summit in Singapore, after it was represented there by Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
Espinosa was one of the few mayors selected from all over the world who attended the 6th World Cities Summit and Mayors Forum 2018 in Singapore July 8 to 12.
The biennial summit is a major platform for government leaders and industry experts to address sustainable city challenges, and share integrated urban solutions while forging new partnerships (https://thedailyguardian.net/local-news/mayor-brings-iloilo-to-world-cities-summit/).
It is a by-invitation-only gathering of leaders to discuss pressing city challenges and share best practices anchored on the theme “Embracing the Future through Innovation and Collaboration.”
Espinosa gained a reputation for prioritizing innovations in enhancing the city government’s delivery of services.
He started the “Pag-ulikid” (Care) program that conducts frontline services in the barangays.
Also, he has emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership between the city government and its stakeholders.
Such efforts sought to make Iloilo City a “Premier SMART City of Excellence.”
Meanwhile, Espinosa hopes to promote and sell Iloilo City as well as establish international networks and linkages during the summit.
