Iloilo gov supports PNP return to drug war but…
Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) for a “prudent” approach in the implementation of the drug war.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier iasued Memorandum Order No. 17 directing the PNP to provide “active support” to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the conduct of illegal drugs operationss.
The removal of police from drug war only worsened the problems on illegal drugs, accordinf to Defensor.
In October, Duterte removed drug-related operations from the PNP amid questionable killings involving policemen.
“I agree that the PNP should take an active part, although the lead agency is still PDEA,” the Ilonggo politiko said.
