Iloilo City on red alert after NPA attack in Maasin
There are no threats just yet, but it’s best to be sure.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has placed the entire Iloilo City on full red alert hours after members of the New People’s Army reportedly raided the police station in nearby Maasin town. The rebel group is said to have attacked the Maasin station with a group of 70 heavily armed men on Sunday, June 18 and took firearms and a patrol car, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
With the declaration, all police forces as well as barangay chairmen, kagawads, and tanods must vigilantly monitor their respective areas and report “any suspicious movement” to the authorities.
The politiko assured that there are no attacks in Iloilo City, but chose to activate this precautionary measure.
