Iloilo City posts higher tourist arrival in the first quarter of 2017
More domestic tourists visited the Iloilo City in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period last year, according to the data from the City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO).
According to the city tourism office, 263,865 domestic tourists arrived in Iloilo City in the January to March period as compared to the 238,865 arrivals in the same period last year.
Broken down, 91,039 domestic visitors arrived in January; 82,640 in February; and 90,186 in March this year.
CTDO head Junel Ann Divinagracia attributed the increase in tourist arrivals to festivities including Dinagyang Festival in January and Paraw Regatta sailing event in February.
“Based on our record, there was a surge of domestic tourist arrivals. Most of them are fond of witnessing our culture through our Dinagyang Festival and Paraw Regatta,” Divinagracia said.
Divinagracia added they hope that tourist arrivals will continue to increase September to December which are considered as convention months as she assured that the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and City Government are closely working to ensure the safety of guests.
