Ex-Energy chief and Leyte gov Petilla joins MRC Allied
Former Secretary of Department of Energy Carlos Jericho Petilla has been named independent director of MRC Allied, Inc., a property developer that has now forayed into the energy sector.
Also named independent director was former National Electrification Administration Administrator Edita S. Bueno.
“With the entry of the new directors and pursuant to the company thrust to strengthen its structure and enhance good governance, the Board Committees have been re-organized. Petilla has been named chairperson of the Risk and Oversight Committee, while Bueno has been named chairperson of the Audit Committee,” the company said in a statement.
“Petilla and Bueno, who both have a track record of invaluable experience in the energy sector, solidifies MRC Allied’s board and management team,” it added.
“Their election to the board also bodes well for the company as it is now diversifying into the energy industry, with a focus on the renewable energy sector,” MRC said.
The firm just recently announced its plan to diversify and enter the energy sector. It plans to put up at least 1,000 megawatts of renewable energy in the next five years.
Petilla ran as senator in last year’s general elections under the erstwhile ruling party, the Liberal Party. Petilla, who also served as Leyte governor for nine years, lost in the elections.
