DPWH Region 6 gives contractors 30 days to finish projects
Complete your projects in 30 days.
This was the reminder of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Western Visayas to 21 contractors in the region.
DPWH-6 OIC-Assistant Regional Director Jose Al Fruto and OIC-Chief of Construction Division Ormel Santos led the DPWH officials at the meeting.
In asking for their cooperation, Fruto also reminded the contractors to find ways to avoid negative slippages or delays.
For his part, Santos urged the contractors “to be serious in implementing the projects by finishing the projects on time.”
The contractors showed willingness to work out these issues with the DPWH project engineers, despite issues such as road right-of-way cases, unfavorable weather, and security threats.
The meeting came after President Rodrigo Duterte reminded local officials that there should be no open holes or canals in project sites.
Duterte earlier said the DPWH can cancel the contracts of hard-headed contractors or have somebody else undertake the project.
Meanwhile, Mambusao (Capiz) Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. said contractors and the implementing agency should coordinate with the local government units.
