Baka may naligaw doon: Bacolod cops on alert for Maute remnants
Following the arrest of a remnant of the Maute group in Tondo, Manila, police in Bacolod City remain on heightened alert against other members of the group.
Bacolod City police chief Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo said they continue to profile individuals from Mindanao in the entire Western Visayas region.
Ebreo also said they continue to share intelligence information with the Police Regional Office-6 and the Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) in Western Visayas (https://thedailyguardian.net/negros/bcpo-remains-alert-maute-remnants/).
Police earlier arrested a sub-leader of the Maute group in Manila’s Tondo district.
The Maute group is believed to be allied with the ISIS terrorist network.
On the other hand, Ebreo said his units regularly visit evacuees from Marawi City who are now staying in Bacolod City.
Last year, ISIS-inspired Maute forces engaged government troops in a five-month battle in Marawi City, with the government forces taking back the city in October.
