Bacolod commemorates 120th Act of Capitulation
The City of Bacolod recently celebrated the 120th anniversary of the Act of Capitulation, or Seis de Noviembre, at the Fountain of Justice in front of the old city hall.
In 2015, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod passed City Ordinance No. 08-15-727 declaring November 6 of every year as a permanent celebration in the city in commemoration of the historic signing of the Act of Capitulation of the Spanish forces.
Councilor Em Ang, then chairwoman of the Committee on Culture, History, and the Arts, principally authored the ordinance.
On November 5, Negros Occidental observed the Al Cinco de Noviembre, which commemorates the successful 1898 Negros Revolution led by Negrense generals Aniceto Lacson and Juan Araneta.
Councilors Ang, Wilson Gamboa Jr., City Administrator John Orola, and members of the Bacolod Cultural, History, and Arts Society were present during the rites.
