Bacolod City grants 50 indigent youth with P10K livelihood loan
Fifty indigent youth have availed the P10,000 livelihood assistance in a form of loan from the Bacolod City’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the distribution rites at the Bacolod City Government Center to 25 members of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) and another 25 members of Negosyey of Bacolod who received P10,000 each, for a total of P500,000.
Pacita Tero, head of the DSSD, said the livelihood assistance is under the Sustainable Livelihood Program funded by the Bottom-Up Budgeting of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Region VI and it is in the form of a loan payable in one year.
The DSWD seeks to give opportunity to the youth to engage in small businesses through this loan assistance.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries have attended an orientation meeting on making a project proposal and the DSSD will monitor the livelihood projects of the beneficiaries.
Tero disclosed that two more youth organizations are set to receive the same livelihood assistance.
