Aklan eyes probe into undocumented foreign workers in Boracay, Kalibo
Aklan Board Member Nemesio Neron is seeking an investigation into reports that the many foreigners are working without proper permits in Boracay and in Kalibo.
The Aklan politiko said foreigners are welcome in the province but they must follow Philippine laws.
“Foreigners in Aklan should adhere to our laws, secure proper work permits, pay taxes and respect the local customs of Aklanons,” Neron said.
Reports said the number of illegal foreign workers in Boracay and Kalibo could reach up to 2,000.
Neron also called for the monitoring of illegal foreign workers, saying this will protect local livelihood.
