Aboitiz foundation starts move to provide disaster-resilient classrooms to Ormoc, Kananga

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) has moved to provide disaster-resilient classrooms to earthquake-hit areas of Ormoc and Kananga in Leyte.

The Ormoc government said that the RAFI is now starting to work on their second leg of assistance to Ormoc and Kananga, in collaboration of the Department of Education-Ormoc City Division and the local government itself.

“Initially, the foundation donated a total of 1,276 rechargeable solar lamps to displaced families in our evacuation centers,” the Ormoc government said.

RAFI is the family foundation of the family line of Don Ramon Aboitiz, which aims to uplift the lives of people in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Ormoc and Kananga were two of the areas that were severely hit by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake last July 6.

Ormoc City and the Kananga town in Leyte were placed under state of calamity by President Rodrigo Duterte due to the said earthquake.
