2018 East Asian Congress ends peacefully but PNP full alert status in WV to remain
After securing the recently concluded East Asian Congress 2018, police in Western Visayas will remain on full alert, this time against theft gangs poised to strike during the holidays.
Western Visayas police head Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao said the full alert status will extend to local festivities in early 2019.
Bulalacao said these include the Binirayan of Antique, Ati-Atihan of Kalibo, and Dinagyang of Iloilo City (https://thedailyguardian.net/local-news/police-on-alert-against-termite-gangs-thieves/).
Standby forces from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion will be deployed in police stations, especially in critical areas.
He said they will deploy personnel to areas where people gather such as malls, churches, and tourist destinations ().
Police will be on alert against termite or acetylene gangs that dig underground to break into banks, lending companies, and jewelry shops.
Police will also be on the lookout for thieves, pickpockets, “hulog barya” gangs, swindlers, snatchers, and bag slashers.
